Hire Us
Our Story
by CEO Will Deatherage
What’s more attractive? A cathedral or a cubicle? The answer should be obvious, yet I grew up in a Catholic world in which our websites and graphic design certainly looked like the latter. I credit the Church’s abysmal digital presence as the leading reason why by the end of high school I could count on one hand the number of my friends who willingly attended Mass (and I attended a Catholic school!). The internet is our modern public square, so I quickly realized we needed to build digital basilicas so young people could appreciate Catholic missions better.
To address this need, I began creating websites, social media accounts, videos, and podcasts about Catholicism (a hobby I still enjoy today). While I studied theology at The Catholic University of America, this hobby evolved into a small income stream, and by my senior year I was juggling ten clients! Eventually, I began networking with fellow tech-savvy Catholics, and while studying for my M.A. in Theology in 2021, I formed Catholics for Hire LLC to be a premier digital freelance agency to serve Catholic-friendly contractors and clients.
Today, Catholics for Hire not only specializes in digital media production, but we also offer branding, marketing, business and nonprofit development, and curriculum creation. We offer dozens of talented freelancers across the country, and we have served hundreds of organizations (both Catholic and Catholic-friendly) since our foundation.
Throughout my professional journey, I noticed many practices among Catholic media companies that seemed “business-first,”- from sky high prices, to a lack of understanding of basic theology. What makes us special is both our flexibility, serving organizations of various sizes and budgets, and our appreciation for the Faith, with most of our contractors having degrees in theology. We are not simply a freelancing agency, we are a family. Catholics for Hire would love to connect your business not only to our contractors, but also to other clients of ours who can help your mission, too!
No matter what size or budget your business, nonprofit, or parish is, we will try our best to help you. We will always strive to live by the words of our patron, St. Carlo Acutis, “Not me, but God.”
